Trump upped his tax threats against the EU while declaring that he will meet with the leaders of Canada and Mexico, as US market futures plummeted following a tumultuous weekend in which trade war fears became reality.
Trump claimed that he will “definitely” put new tariffs on the EU, citing worries about the US trade deficit with the bloc and what he regards as insufficient EU imports of American vehicles and agricultural products.
China’s industrial activity unexpectedly declined for the second consecutive month in January, emphasising the need for Beijing to boost economic stimulus as Trump levies tariffs on the country’s exports.
