US & European Stock Futures Fall Ahead of Employment Data – Asia Market Wrap
European and US stock futures fell in modest trading as investors remained cautious ahead of US jobs data, which will help clarify the route ahead for interest rates.
The Euro Stoxx 50 futures lost 0.3%, while the S&P 500 futures fell 0.2%. Gains in mainland China bolstered Asian stocks on Friday, as a Hong Kong tech stock index appeared to be entering a technical bull market.
Treasuries were stable after slight falls across the curve on Thursday. The Dollar index edged up.
The mixed changes highlighted a lack of direction ahead of US nonfarm payroll data, which are due later Friday and will redirect traders away from the tariff drama that shook financial markets earlier this week. A bad report might increase anticipation for additional Fed cuts, whereas a stronger-than-expected number could have the reverse impact
The Yen dipped against the Dollar, setting it up for its first drop in five sessions. Japan’s PM Ishiba is set to meet with Trump on Friday.
