The yen pared its advance versus the dollar as US equity futures recouped earlier losses, trading little changed after Nasdaq 100 contracts were down as much as 1.6%. The ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus threw its backing behind a stopgap funding package, bolstering Speaker Mike Johnson’s attempt to pass the bill without the help of House Democrats and avert a government shutdown on March 15. What had been a steady pullback from the US stock market accelerated sharply Monday as investors retreated from virtually every type of risk and economic fear raced across Wall Street.
