Morning Juice – US Session Prep
Morning, Traders!
It is Thursday the 20th of March, here are some things to look out for today.
Sentiment
US Treasuries extended gains amid risk-off sentiment following Wednesday’s Fed meeting. The dollar index rose about 0.3%, extending gains for a second day.
For weeks the US economic picture has been darkening. If Wednesday was an opportunity for Fed Chair Powell to raise the alarm, he took a hard pass.
ECB’s President Lagarde said the European Central Bank is unable to make firm commitments on interest rates due to elevated unpredictability over trade.
US Treasuries gain, sending the 10-Yr yield 5 BPS lower to 4.20%; yields on European bonds also head lower with German 10 year at 2.75%.
Trump said the Fed should cut interest rates, splitting with the US central bank as officials weigh the economic cost of his tariff push.
