The Trump administration is considering whether to reduce certain tariffs targeting the auto industry that carmaker executives have warned would deal a severe blow to profits and jobs. Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Beth Hammack said slowing the pace of the US central bank’s balance-sheet reduction may allow officials to continue the runoff for longer, while emphasizing there are costs to holding a portfolio that is larger than necessary. Foreign exchange traders are battling to hold onto their bearish dollar positions after the currency’s two-day rally Gold futures in Shanghai saw the largest intraday drop since 2013 midweek, as a frenetic bout of selling contributed to global bullion prices tumbling from a record.
