Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices agreed to pay 15% of their revenues from chip sales to China to the US government as part of a deal with the Trump administration to secure export licenses, according to a person familiar with the matter. The US expects to largely complete negotiations with countries that have yet to secure a trade deal by the end of October, Nikkei Asia reported, citing an interview with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has conceded the government is unlikely to win a reduction in the tariff rate the US has applied to New Zealand goods. Australia’s central bank is poised to deliver its third interest-rate cut this year as inflationary pressures ebb, while Governor Michele Bullock is expected to stick with her cautious stance on the monetary policy outlook.
