Morning Juice – US Session Prep (7th October)

Sentiment
The dollar extended gains, benefiting from a continuing selloff in the yen on increasing speculation BoJ interest-rate hikes could be limited. USD/JPY climbed 0.3% to 150.77. The yen declined for a 4th day on concern the BoJ is less likely to raise rates under a government potentially led by pro-stimulus lawmaker Takaichi. A move by the BoJ to hike rates this month would probably come too soon after the formation of Takaichi’s administration, one of her closest economic advisers said.

Treasuries fell as investors await speeches by Fed policymakers for more hints about the outlook for rate cuts.

European equities and US stock futures struggled for direction on Tuesday as investors awaited political developments on both sides of the Atlantic. Gold retreated after coming close to $4k an ounce.
