The dollar neared a 2-month high as US stock futures climbed. Gold hit a fresh record, while long-end Treasuries edged higher.

Spot gold smashed through $4k an ounce for the first time, as worries over the US economy and a government shutdown added fresh momentum to a scorching surge.

US stock futures gained, suggesting the equity rally is set to continue as investors cast aside fears about lofty valuations and the billions pouring into AI.

EU officials see new US demands for concessions, as well as other measures, as possibly undermining a recent accord that brought the allies back from the verge of a trade war.
