Morning Juice – US Session Prep (16th October)
Good Morning Traders.
It is Thursday the 16th of October. Here is what to look out for today.
Sentiment
French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu survived the first of two no-confidence votes Thursday after announcing plans to suspend a contentious pension law in order to win support in the National Assembly. Donald Trump’s tariff war alienated longtime allies and gave China an opportunity to woo the world. Now Beijing’s hardball tactics are sparking a global pushback. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing hiked its projection for 2025 revenue growth for the second time this year, reinforcing hopes in the longevity of a global boom in AI spending. The UK economy resumed modest growth in August as a rebound in manufacturing helped offset a stagnant month for the dominant services industry.
Bank of Japan Board Member Tamura called for raising interest rates as he sees increasing upside inflation risks, a view that’s consistent with his stance last month when he dissented from keeping policy steady. Japan’s ruling party leader Takaichi’s chances of becoming prime minister now hang on policy talks with the Japan Innovation Party with Friday emerging as a key date in providing clarity for who will form the country’s new government.
