European Union officials may cut growth forecasts for 2026 in an assessment of damage to the region’s economy. China urged its citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near term and warned students planning to study there of heightened risks, escalating a conflict over comments from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi suggesting potential intervention in the event of a military conflict over Taiwan.
