Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is set to mark the opening of a new parliamentary session by presenting a broad economic vision in which government policies help stoke private investment into key industries to secure the nation’s future. Japan’s key inflation gauge eased to the slowest pace in two years, posing a communication challenge for a central bank that will likely stay determined to raise the benchmark interest rate when the timing is right. The yen weakened after the data. The Trump administration is planning a new Peace Corps initiative that would send thousands of US science and math graduates abroad to boost foreign countries’ reliance on American technology and reduce global adoption of competing products from China, according to a US official. President Donald Trump declared victory in the fight over cost-of- living concerns, signaling a new approach that seeks to deny problems with his economic agenda while touting stock market gains to insist that his tariff plans have been a success.
