Morning Juice – US Session Prep (12th March)
Sentiment
Stocks slumped as oil prices continued to rise, with Iran intensifying attacks on neighbouring countries and causing widespread disruptions to crude exports. A global bond index reversed its 2026 gains.
S&P 500 futures fell 0.4%. Brent briefly rose beyond $100 per barrel after Iraq halted oil terminal activity following an attack on two ships. Oman temporarily evacuated a crucial export hub, while Iran launched strikes against targets in Dubai and Kuwait. The dollar and gold were largely unchanged.
The Middle East war is causing the most significant disruption in oil markets in history, affecting 7.5% of world supply and an even higher share of exports, according to the International Energy Agency.
