Morning Juice – US Session Prep (13th March)
Sentiment
US stock futures crept higher after three days of losses on Wall Street, as oil prices fell below $100 per barrel, as investors watched to see if the Middle East conflict escalated further.
Contracts for the S&P 500 Index increased 0.5% after the index sank to its lowest level since November on Thursday, while a barometer of the Magnificent Seven technology firms rose in premarket trading. Crude oil futures fell below $99 per barrel after trading around $102 earlier on Friday. The Stoxx 600 index in Europe also saw some improvement.
In currencies, the dollar rose 0.3% after reaching its best level in over two months. The euro and yen, both vulnerable to high oil prices, dropped, with the Japanese currency reaching its lowest point since 2024, approaching levels where authorities had previously interfered to stabilise it.
