Bonds and Stocks Jump While Oil Drops Due to US-Iran Talks – Europe Market Wrap
Stocks and bonds rallied after Trump stated the US and Iran had “very good” talks about ending the Middle East conflict. Oil prices fell.
S&P 500 futures rose 2.3%. The yield on two-year Treasuries fell 7 bps points to 3.83%. The Dollar declined 0.1%, as gold recovered some of its losses. Brent plummeted more than 9% to $101 per barrel.
“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plans and energy infrastructure for a five-day period,” Trump said on Truth Social.
