Stocks and bonds rallied after Trump stated the United States and Iran had “very good” talks about ending the Middle East conflict. Oil prices fell.
S&P 500 futures increased by 1.7%. The yield on two-year Treasuries fell three basis points to 3.86%. The dollar dropped 0.1%. Gold has pared losses. Brent was down more than 7% to at $104 per barrel.
“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, i have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period,” the president stated on Truth Social.
