Morning Juice – US Session Prep (19th May)

Sentiment
The dollar surged on haven demand after President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone a planned strike on Iran failed to boost market confidence. Treasuries fell as oil prices remained strong. Christopher Waller, a Federal Reserve Board member, will talk later in the day. A drop in technology equities pushed stocks lower in the United States and Asia. Oil and Treasury yields dipped little as traders waited for signs of progress toward a Middle East peace deal. A jump in longer-maturity US Treasury yields is putting global bond investors to the test, as they choose between locking in rates near the highest levels in decades and risking an even bigger selloff.
