Morning Juice – US Session Prep (29th June)
Sentiment
Global stocks started the week on a firmer footing as investors bought the dip after last week’s selloff, with growth stocks leading the rebound.
S&P 500 futures rose 0.8% and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 1.2%, while premarket strength was concentrated in AI infrastructure and space-related names.
European equities were little changed, and Asian markets edged higher, helped by a softer-than-expected PBoC liquidity rate that reinforced expectations for further policy support in China.
Oil also stayed in focus, with Brent rising to around $72.40 a barrel after renewed US-Iran tensions disrupted shipping near the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend.
Even though both sides have since agreed to stop further attacks, tanker traffic remains below normal as shipowners continue to assess security risks.
Treasury yields and the dollar were broadly steady, while markets continued to price the possibility of a Fed hike as soon as September, with Barkin again stressing that inflation remains too high. The broader setup for the week is a market trying to recover risk appetite, but still facing a busy mix of central bank rhetoric, key data, and lingering geopolitical risk.
