Morning Juice – Europe Session Prep

Good Morning Traders.
It is Friday the 14th of August. Here is what to look out for today.

Sentiment
The US government sold 30-year bonds at the highest interest rate in a quarter of a century, a testament to investors’ demand for greater compensation to finance the nation’s growing deficit. Oil held a decline as traders monitored efforts toward a deal that could reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while fresh attacks on tankers and energy infrastructure kept the market on edge. Japanese investors bought the most foreign assets in more than two years last week, taking advantage of a brief yen rally after a historic Japan-US market intervention, preliminary figures from the Ministry of Finance show on Friday. Australia appoints Melinda Cilento as a part-time member of the RBA’s Monetary Policy Board to replace outgoing member Ian Harper, according to a media release from the Treasurer Jim Chalmers. The US military campaign against Iran has so far failed to force the regime to capitulate. The Trump administration is betting once again that suffocating economic pressure will do the job. The yen remains within striking distance of a crucial level against the dollar, even after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s government was said to support an interest-rate hike.
