Morning Juice – US Session Prep (18th September)

Sentiment
Technology stocks drove gains across the US and Asia as falling oil prices improved broader risk sentiment. S&P 500 futures rose 0.2% and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.5%, while chipmakers, optical names and crypto-linked stocks advanced. South Korea’s Kospi jumped 2.7%, while Europe lagged due to its lower exposure to AI-related stocks.

The tone has improved sharply from earlier in the week, helped by a Fed rate hike that reinforced inflation-fighting credibility, easing concerns over Middle East oil supply, and continued optimism around semiconductor demand. The BoJ also raised rates, but the split decision pushed the yen lower as markets interpreted it as a sign that further tightening could proceed more gradually. Brent fell below $103 for a third straight decline, while the dollar firmed, gold moved toward $4,400 and the US 10-year yield edged back up to 4.96%.
