Asian Equities with US after strong tech results – Asia Market Wrap

Following a string of impressive reports from IT heavyweights, US shares continued to rise, leading to gains in most Asian equity indices during after-hours trade.

South Korea’s Kospi index was on course for its greatest weekly gain since 2022. US market futures were in the green after both the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index and the S&P 500 Index jumped over 1% on Thursday. Meanwhile, gauges in Australia and Japan increased, while Chinese stocks declined.

In South Korea, banks and automakers rallied on anticipation that a regulatory drive would enhance valuations, and the country’s finance minister promised to increase shareholder returns and corporate governance earlier this week.

Treasuries remained flat in Asian trading after an advance Thursday that brought the 10-Yr yield three basis points down. The dollar index fell, but the Australian currency outperformed all of its G10 counterparts.
