Us Futures Fluctuate and with the S&P500 near the 5k mark – Europe Market Wrap

Thursday saw volatility in stocks and bonds as investors processed a barrage of corporate announcements and got ready for the sale of US government paper with a 30-Yr maturity.

The STOXX 600 was flat on the busiest day of the European results season, while US equity futures moved down.

Despite warnings from Fed policymakers that a cut is unlikely until May at the earliest, markets have largely ignored concerns about the commercial real estate sector. Nonetheless, traders have continued to pile into big tech stocks, propelling the S&P 500 index to a new high on Wednesday, bringing it closer to the 5,000 level.

While the US Treasury successfully sold 3- and 10-Yr notes this week, its latest auction of longer-maturity debt on Thursday could be a more difficult challenge.
