The 81-year-old incumbent dropped out of the campaign after a bad debate performance cast doubt on his potential to overcome the Republican nominee, 78-year-old former President Donald Trump. Biden offered his support to his running mate. Vice-President Kamala Harris

The People’s Bank of China dropped a key short-term policy rate for the first time in over a year, increasing up support for the economy following disappointing growth and steering a shift towards a new policy benchmark.
