Kamala Harris has more than enough pledged delegates to secure the Democratic presidential nomination, following a remarkable two-day blitz that saw the vice president consolidate her party’s momentum to confront Donald Trump in November.

French President Emmanuel Macron has asked for a “political truce” during the summer Olympics in Paris, which begin on Friday, potentially postponing the selection of a prime minister and formation of a new government.

Oil remained near a six-week low as traders awaited further information on market balances, notably the outlook for US inventories.
