Stocks traded mixed as the focus shifted from US politics to a busy week for corporate earnings, with tech titans Tesla and Alphabet set to report later today.
Companies accounting for 29% of the S&P 500’s market value are expected to report this week, and investors are waiting to see if the rally in tech stocks that has lifted the benchmark this year can continue.
The yen rose for a second day after senior politicians urged the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates to combat currency weakness.
The dollar strengthened against all other G-10 currencies.
