US Futures Steady Before Data as Walmart Rallies – Europe Market Wrap

US equity futures and European markets reversed earlier gains as traders anticipated additional economic data that might support the case for Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.

S&P 500 futures remained steady as the benchmark extended its winning streak to a sixth day on Wednesday, helped by a benign consumer price index reading.

Treasuries were stable, as was a measure of dollar strength.

In the United Kingdom, the economy recovered steadily from last year’s recession, with GDP climbing 0.6% in the second quarter following a 0.7% increase in the first three months. The statistics are unlikely to change the minds of policymakers at the Bank of England, who had anticipated an even bigger expansion.
