Morning Juice – US Session Prep
Good Morning Traders.
It is Friday the 23rd of August. Here is what to look out for today.
Sentiment
Stocks rose in the run-up to Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech, as traders sought clues on how quickly and far the Federal Reserve would cut rates.
Powell’s speech, scheduled for 10 a.m. New York time, has been the main focus for traders this week, and markets fell on Thursday on fears he would push back on the market’s aggressive easing bets.
At the same time, JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank strategists predict moderate bond movements during the conference, while options traders anticipate small stock swings in the coming days.
S&P 500 futures rose, and Europe’s main equities benchmark edged higher.
The 10-year Treasury yield held steady at 3.84% as the dollar fell.
