Nasdaq Futures Point to Extended Gains on Netflix – Europe Market Wrap

The Stoxx 600 index fell 0.5% in Europe. At the end of last week, Barclays strategists stated that European companies have so far produced fewer positive earnings surprises than they often do.

US stock futures declined as investors awaited more indications of the economy’s strength during a busy week of corporate reports. As tensions in the Middle East increased, gold hit a record and oil rose.

Futures for the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 sank 0.5%, while contracts on the S&P 500 were down 0.3% after the underlying index ended its longest run of weekly advances this year. The dollar slightly increased in value, and US 10-year Treasury yields increased by four basis points.

Investors’ changing perceptions of the state of the main economies and the effects of Middle East conflicts and geopolitics are influencing financial markets.
